Two hours. Dinner was over. I couldnât wait for these people to leave already.
I couldnât wait for Lucien to stop staring at me!
He refused to look away from me at all. He drank his whiskey and watched me, as if he couldnât see how many people were around us. As if he couldnât see that my father was sitting right next to me.
What the hell was he doing?!
Trying to avoid his eyes wasnât working. By the gods, he was going to get himself killed! Please, stop, I begged in silence with all of my heart, but he didnât. He couldnât hear the thoughts in my head.
Maybe he could see them in my eyes.
Thatâs why I looked at him and widened my eyes as fast as I could, hoping heâd understand what I was trying to say.
Look away. Go dance with someone. Go do something else for a second!
Instead, Lucien smiled at me. Just the corner of his lips turned up a bit, like he was amused by my panic.
Godsdamn him.
I turned away again, trying to distract myself with the conversation my father was having with one of his men, and it wasnât even ten seconds later that I felt it.
Air got stuck in my throat.
Air pressed my shoulders down, as if it wanted to keep me seated.
Air slipped under my dress and up my legs, slow and gentle, like a caress, and it cooled down my thighs, pushing them open.
I all but passed out.
The magic slipped under my skin, searching my body. I gripped the edge of the table tightly and tried not to look his way, not to give him the satisfaction, thinking he would stop. He didnât. His magic pressed against my panties, making my legs spread wider. My eyes closed for a momentâI could barely breathe. He controlled my body completely right now, controlled the air that went down my throat, and it was like he was touching me himself. Right speed, right pressure, right everything.
Please donât cry out, please, please, pleaseâ¦I thought, biting my tongue so hard I tasted blood. He would be done soon. He would have proven his pointâhe owned me, knew my body by memory, could do anything he wanted to me even in a room full of the most powerful people in the world.
But Lucien didnât stopâand his magic was under my dress, caressing my calves, my thighs, teasing my clit, pressing onto it exactly like he used to do with his tongue. Goose bumps broke on my forearms. My eyes popped open when he went lower still, his magic a bit colder as it slipped under the fabric of my panties.
Lucien had his hand outstretched over his lap, sipping his whiskey as he watched me trying not to come in a room full of people. He had no mercy.
Please, I begged him with my eyes, trying not to move my hips in rhythm with the waves of magic he sent between my legs. He did this to me once, that first day he walked me out of his house, but never this intensely.
